What Davis Thompson earned after winning the John Deere Classic for the first time on the PGA Tour

Davis Thompson won the John Deere Classic, making history as the 24th player on the PGA Tour to do it. At TPC Deere Run, he set the 72-hole scoring record with his final round of 28 under. In the last two events, he placed T9 in the Rocket Mortgage Classic and T2 at the U.S. Open. He defeated C.T. Pan, Michael Thorbjornsen, and amateur star Luke Clanton by four strokes with a final-round 7-under 64. Thompson was ahead by two shots going into Sunday. Immediately after taking his first tee shot, the former Georgia Bulldog fired up his engine. He putted over 120 feet and recorded five birdies in his opening six holes.

The 25-year-old put on a clinic, increasing his total number of strokes gained by +18 shots on the field. Thompson won 500 FedEx Cup points and $1,440,000 from the $8 million purse. From No. 51 to No. 22 in the FedEx Cup playoff rankings, he made a move. Thorbjornsen and Pan split the $712,000 prize. Clanton did not receive any compensation because he is an amateur. After completing T7, Hayden Springer, also known as Mr. 59, took $252,500 home. To find out how much each player made at the John Deere Classic, let’s break down the remaining field.
