Video: Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez already practicing “pure football” at Inter Miami

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are already practicing “pure football” ahead of the 2024 season, so Inter Miami’s MLS rivals had better be careful.

In the summer of 2023, the Herons welcomed eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi into their fold. A few weeks after his arrival, they celebrated a historic Leagues Cup victory. Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, two former Barcelona teammates, have joined the legendary Argentine in Florida.

Suarez, a seasoned striker from Uruguay, has now been added to that reunion trip. Inter Miami has made no secret of their intention to contend for the championship on all fronts. Landing many pieces of silverware is the plan, with four trophies up for grabs.

Suarez, a 36-year-old frontman who is still a constant in the last third of games, will surely help that cause. He claims to have a nearly telepathic understanding with Messi, and the two have made quick friends again on the practice field.

Inter Miami has a full preseason program planned, starting on Friday with a friendly matchup against El Salvador. Messi is a member of their traveling team, but it is unclear if he will play in any forthcoming games against teams like Vissel Kobe, Newell’s Old Boys, and Al-Nassr, the team that Cristiano Ronaldo plays for.
