Tomasson is appointed as Sweden’s first-ever foreign manager.

The Swedish FA announced on Monday that Jon Dahl Tomasson, a former striker for Denmark, has been named manager of Sweden. He is the nation’s first foreign coach.
Tomasson, who recently quit as manager of English second-tier team Blackburn Rovers, has agreed to a deal that will automatically be extended upon advancement and lasts through the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.
“I’m excited to get started on this fantastic project and get to know the players, fans, and of course the Swedish media.” and to be able to use blue and yellow in thought, speech, and dreams,” the 47-year-old remarked.

Tomasson, who played 112 games for Denmark, succeeds Janne Andersson, who resigned from the position after Sweden’s third-place performance in their group—behind Belgium and Austria—precluded them from qualifying for Euro 2024.
