Timberwolves dominate fourth quarter to beat Grizzlies

On Thursday night in Minneapolis, Anthony Edwards scored 28 points on 11 of 19 shots, and the Minnesota Timberwolves overcame the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 118-103.
Minnesota, which won its second game in as many nights and its fourth in a straight, saw Edwards lead the team with two points at the half before exploding for 26 points in the second half. With 20 points from the bench, Naz Reid helped the Timberwolves get to 17-2 at home.

For Minnesota, Rudy Gobert recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, Mike Conley recorded a double-double with 10 assists and 17 points.
Memphis was led by Jaren Jackson Jr., who finished with a game-high 36 points on 15 of 23 shooting. For the Grizzlies, who have dropped three of their last four games, Luke Kennard finished with eighteen points after making five of his seven shots from beyond the arc.
In the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves defeated the Grizzlies 37–17 to secure the victory.
With 10:47 remaining, Memphis was up 89-85 thanks to a free shot by GG Jackson.

With 8:20 remaining, Minnesota quickly took control with an 11-0 run, leading 96-89. During the run, Conley scored eight straight points and helped Nickeil Alexander-Walker make the game-winning 3-pointer.
Memphis followed for the remaining distance.
By the end of the third quarter, the Grizzlies were ahead 86-81.
In the third quarter, Kennard scored four 3-pointers to ignite Memphis. In addition, he scored 15 points in the quarter with a three-point play that included a layup and a free throw.

Edwards scored 14 points in the third quarter for Minnesota, almost matching Kennard’s total. A highlight-reel play was one in which Edwards ran toward the rim to dunk the ball after lobbling a pass to himself off the backboard from behind the free-throw line.
Memphis was ahead 55–50 at the break.
Before the half, Jaren Jackson Jr. had scored the most points of any player. With 13 points, Naz Reid led the Timberwolves.
At the completion of the first quarter, the score was knotted at 30 to 30.
