This summer, golfers received a £237 insurance warning

Based on internal data from Golf Care, the average cost of a claim for golf insurance is £236.71.

Golfers in the UK are alerted to a common insurance problem that they may encounter this summer and that, if ignored, could cost them a whopping £236.71. A common misconception among golfers is that the insurance included in their club membership provides complete coverage for any problems that may arise while they are playing.

But most club memberships only come with public liability insurance as standard, say specialists at Golf Care. This implies that if a player damages someone else’s property or causes harm to another person and that person files a claim for compensation, the player will be covered financially. They might still have to pay more for any public responsibility lawsuits, though, and their coverage won’t extend to all golf-related dangers.

For instance, it’s not uncommon for equipment to be stolen, be it specialized apparel, a golf watch, or a set of clubs. On the course, serious injuries also happen often. These injuries would not be covered by a public liability coverage and often result in costly dental work or even a hospital stay. Should these kinds of situations arise, the player would be responsible for paying the expenses. Conversely, specialized golf insurance plans offer coverage for a significantly greater variety of problems.

The average cost of a golf insurance claim is £236.71, according to internal data from Golf Care; however, the actual cost may be far more. The alert is issued during a popular time of year when thousands of golfers will be visiting the course to enjoy the longer hours and better playing weather. Dan Dawson, Golf Care’s Head of Underwriting, stated:

Golfers frequently misunderstand this insurance detail, which could have a detrimental financial impact in the event of an issue. When the UK’s weather gets warmer, golfers everywhere will be eager to hit the green. However, if something goes wrong and your insurance doesn’t cover you enough, it may completely destroy your season. As a result, we kindly request that all golfers’ owners carefully

read the fine print in their membership paperwork or contact their club for clarification.
