Tennis phenom Carlos Alcaraz imparts a “positive attitude” to John McEnroe.

Carlos Alcaraz, a teenage tennis pro from Spain, has been requested to give former world number one John McEnroe advice on having a “positive” outlook. Along with Jannik Sinner of Italy and Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the 21-year-old is already considered one of the finest players in the men’s tennis singles division. Currently competing at Wimbledon, Alcaraz defeated American Tommy Paul in the last-eight match with scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, securing his spot in the semifinals. Recently, McEnroe—a member of the Wimbledon broadcast team—was cited in a story endorsing the current world number three.

McEnroe also disclosed that he had invited Alcaraz to his home to discuss how he manages to maintain such a positive outlook. The 65-year-old also exhorted the younger players to observe how the Spaniard handles challenging circumstances when playing. “That upbeat demeanor was there,” he remarked. “Carlos Alcaraz is amazing; no matter the score, you can’t help but smile at him.” I’m not sure how he does it, but you can always teach an elderly man something new. Stop by my place anytime. This man is capable of doing everything, and he does it. It is something I wish all these young players of the game study, not just his shooting form but also his demeanor when on the court.

After defeating the world number one Sinner in a five-setter in the last-eight match with a score of 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, Alcaraz will take on Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the last-four match. Medvedev has already guaranteeing his spot in the semifinals. This professional tennis match will be the pair’s seventh meeting. Having won four times and only lost twice in the previous six encounters, Alcaraz was clearly in the lead.
