Sven-Goran Eriksson’s ‘dream’ of managing Liverpool may come true

In a Legends game at Anfield, former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson might get the chance to fulfill his “dream” of coaching Liverpool.

The 75-year-old Swede disclosed that he might not have more than a year to live after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. “Everyone knows that I have an illness that is not good,” he declared. It’s cancer, as everyone assumes, and rightly so. However, I must fight for as long as I can.

Eriksson has acknowledged that losing out on the chance to lead Liverpool as coach is one of his greatest regrets. That might be about to change, as he might be given the starting nod by the Reds for the Legends match against Ajax in March, according to reports.

When questioned about the possible opening, Eriksson said to Good Morning Britain, “I didn’t know that, I heard that they have a charity game in March, I think it is, and my son… I’m invited to watch the game, which is fantastic as it will feature many outstanding football players, but shouldn’t I be managing them instead? No, I haven’t heard of that.

When asked if he would accept a deal from Liverpool, Eriksson responded, “Of course! I’ve always had it as my desire, but it’s still only a dream, so I’m not complaining since I’ve had a lot of successful football teams, both national teams and clubs.

Between 2001 and 2006, Eriksson collaborated with the English group known as the “Golden Generation” for five years. In addition to his lengthy and illustrious CV, which includes stints as manager of Benfica, Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio, Mexico, Ivory Coast, and Shanghai SIPG, he has worked in club football at Manchester City and Leicester.
