South Korea retains its dominance against China at Olympics

Paris: This Sunday at the Paris Games, South Korea’s three first-time Olympians defeated China 5–4 to win their 10th consecutive gold medal in women’s team archery after a thrilling shoot-off.

South Korea has won every gold medal in women’s team archery since the sport was introduced to the Olympics in 1988, demonstrating their unwavering dominance of the competition. Mexico won the bronze medal, and China had to make do with the silver.

The South Korean women led the match in the first two sets, but then they faltered and let China tie the score in the following two sets.

While acknowledging that there was more competition to break her nation’s winning streak in the competition, Archer Lim Sihyeon insisted that South Korea would keep defending its lead.

Retaining this location in Korean archery history makes me very happy,” she remarked. We’ll work to maintain our position even though other nations have advanced. Due to a review of two South Korean arrows that had landed in between two scoring rings on the target circle, the shoot-off for the gold medal match became even more intense.

The shots were given the higher point and gold medal, to the roars of the Esplanade des Invalides crowd, many of whom were waving flags of South Korea.

Prior to the team’s arrival, some fans held signs in Korean above the venue’s fences and stood on tiptoes to get a glimpse of the athletes, treating them like celebrities.
