Sinner defeats O’Connell in three sets in the US Open

At the US Open, Jannik Sinner advanced to the round of 16 by defeating Christopher O’Connell, ranked 87th, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
On Saturday, the 23-year-old world number one defeated seasoned Australian player O’Connell in three sets with ease (6-1, 6-4, 6-2).
A day earlier, 2022 champion Carlos Alcaraz had fallen to Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, while four-time champion Novak Djokovic had been upset by Alexei Popyrin.
