One more startling shift in MotoGP? It’s possible that Lewis Hamilton is negotiating to buy Gresini Racing

Some were surprised to learn that Lewis Hamilton may be in talks to buy Gresini Racing, which this morning announced Álex Márquez’s contract renewal and has a deal with Ducati for the next few years. Rumors about the future of many teams and riders in the MotoGP paddock are still surfacing. Nadia Padovani, the team’s current owner, took over after her husband and founder, Fausto Gresini, passed away in 2021. The-Race.com reports that multiple sources close to the team claim that the Formula 1 driver is interested in buying the company.

According to reports, Hamilton’s representative even paid Gresini a visit during the MotoGP Dutch, as the seven-time F1 World Champion considers the feasibility of a possible purchase. In addition to his Formula One endeavors, Hamilton (who will be a Ferrari driver in 2019) is also a co-owner of the Denver Broncos NFL franchise, the owner of Dawn Apollo Films, a film production firm, and franchise X44 in Extreme E, a vegan restaurant chain. He previously had a deal with MV Agusta to collaborate on the creation of limited-edition motorcycles.

Hamilton would be able to expand his portfolio with a low-risk, potentially extremely profitable endeavor if he were to eventually enter MotoGP as the owner of Gresini. Gresini is a storied squad that has a solid reputation in the paddock and has proven that it can contend for excellent results. Over the years, Hamilton has repeatedly stated that he carefully watches MotoGP. In 2019, he even rode a top-class bike at an event with Valentino Rossi. Additionally, the F1 driver has devoted sponsors who have supported him for a long time and who currently compete in the highest class of motorcycle racing.
