Ollie Palmer predicts when Wrexham will be in the Premier League

Within the next ten years, Ollie Palmer predicts Wrexham will deliver Premier League football for its owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

After winning the National League pennant the previous season, the Red Dragons made their first move in that direction. They are expected to receive back-to-back promotions, and they are currently dominating League Two. Even if they are still far from reaching their ultimate goals, Palmer is confident that the most aspirational teams will eventually reach the “very top.”

Palmer provided an explanation of why everyone at SToK Racecourse is united in their pursuit of the shared objective on the Men In Blazers podcast, saying, “I’m working to do a job that gets the club promoted, that’s why I’m at Wrexham.” Why is it that people can’t say, “I think we’ll get promoted,” when that’s exactly what we’re trying to achieve? Boxers discuss winning, NFL players discuss winning their games, and basketball players discuss dominating their opponents. I think this football team has the potential to succeed at the highest levels.

In terms of the facilities, the support system, the funding, and the caliber of players joining the team—players they will undoubtedly add in the future—nothing prevents this football team from joining the Premier League over the next ten years. Nothing will prevent this team from joining the Premier League within the next ten years. We think that this team will reach the pinnacle of the sport, but if it takes 12–15 years, then I was mistaken by two or three years.

In January 2022, Palmer enlisted in the Wrexham adventure after being thrown in front of documentary cameras in North Wales. Though he acknowledges that the Red Dragons have surpassed his expectations, he maintains that he knew what he was getting himself into. He went on to say, “I had a little idea just because of who the owners were and what the manager was trying to achieve,” when asked if living in the spotlight had surprised him. He [Phil Parkinson] told me about the football club, the community, and the enthusiasm when we chatted before I joined for Wrexham. I anticipated it would be somewhat of a rollercoaster, but certainly not as exciting as this!

With a game remaining, Wrexham is only two points behind League Two leaders Stockport. They will return to action on Saturday when they visit Welsh rivals Newport County. After that, they will enjoy an eight-day rest before playing Championship team Blackburn in the FA Cup fourth round.
