According to reports, Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs de Ligt are on Manchester United’s radar as they look to beef up their defensive options during the summer.
Although January is predicted to be a quiet month at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have already begun planning for the upcoming transfer season. The massive Premier League clubs are optimistic that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of a twenty-five percent share in the team will be approved in February.
After that, money will be available for other additions, with United prepared to give tightening up the back priority. Center halves with promise and a strong pedigree are highly desired by the team, according to ESPN. The Red Devils have their eyes set on Bayern Munich’s De Ligt and Everton’s Branthwaite.
Manchester United is reportedly showing interest in Galatasaray full-back Sacha Boey and former Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo, who is currently at Nice. After experiencing problems on both ends of the field in 2023–24, Erik ten Hag is conscious of the necessity to seal defensive gaps.
There will also be exits from Old Trafford, with new faces apparently on the way. The season is coming to an end for Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane’s contract does not have an option to extend, and Harry Maguire, the previous captain of the team, is free to depart if the right offers are made.
