Jurgen Klopp reacts to Mohamed Salah’s “shock” injury while representing Egypt at the AFCON

According to Jurgen Klopp, the announcement that Mohamed Salah had sustained an injury while serving in the AFCON was an unpleasant “shock” for everyone at Liverpool.

At the Africa Cup of Nations, the Egyptian forward is now traveling with his nation in pursuit of continental success. In his most recent appearance at that event, the 31-year-old winger hobbled off in a 2-2 draw with Ghana after less than 45 minutes of play.

Although Egypt’s top official Rui Vitoria claims that the issue is not “dangerous,” Salah must go through medical testing. Reporters have learned that one of Klopp’s lucky charms at Anfeld is nursing a knock: “We don’t know anything about Mo.” When we chatted yesterday night, I asked him how his injuries were going. They are currently undergoing additional assessment because of these injuries, and we will learn more as a result. It was shocking at the time it happened. It seemed to me that he had been struck by a powerful object at a high altitude before falling. He still felt the pain, even though there are other ways to get these hamstring strains. We shall see. It is surely something, as we all know how infrequently Mo goes off or has to go off. After the MRI and ultrasound, we shall find out Egypt’s strategy. However, it’s too soon.

Salah has missed the last two matches for Liverpool and may miss a total of five. Trent Alexander-Arnold put his knee injury to the test during a visit to the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in Milan, but the Reds will not have any of their walking wounded back for a Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday. Klopp added, “Obviously he can walk on the catwalk!” Though they are all moving in the correct direction and coming closer, he is not yet ready. Next week, some of them may participate in team training. Before then, I don’t expect anyone to return. We will watch the youngsters closely, but if no one else is out before, we might see them play for Fulham and Bournemouth. Robbo (Andy Robertson), Dom (Szoboszlai), and Trent are all tight. Everything is moving in the correct way.

What’s next for Liverpool?

Although Alexander-Arnold might return for Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final matchup with Fulham on Wednesday, the Reds will still need to adjust to life without Salah if they are to be in the running for major awards on four fronts in 2024.
