For his first PGA Tour victory, Thompson wins the John Deere Classic.

SILVIS, Illinois —After winning his first PGA TOUR event in his 63rd career start at the TPC Deere Run on Sunday, Davis Thompson, a former Georgia men’s golf player, won the John Deere Classic with a tournament record-breaking 28-under, 256. Thompson won the tournament with a four-stroke score of 63-67-62-64. In addition to being the 12th winner under Georgia head coach Chris Haack, he is the 17th former Bulldog to win a PGA TOUR event.

 

Coach Haack exclaimed, “I’m so proud of Davis.” He not only achieved his maiden victory on the PGA TOUR, but he also shattered the tournament scoring record and displayed amazing golf.I’m excited to follow his budding career as it develops.” Following the victory, Thompson moves up to No. 22 in the FedEx Cup standings and gains entry for both the 2025 Master’s and The Open. As the 24th player to win his first PGA TOUR title at the John Deere Classic, Thompson does so.
