Carlos Alcaraz still respect Rafael Nadal as boss at Paris Olympics

Not much. Together, he and I are going about our respective lives. We’re not really into conversation, but when we get to the Games, we’ll talk about doubles and, most importantly, how we’re going to do it, Alcaraz told ABC Sports.

This will be Rafael Nadal’s fourth and last Olympic competition at the age of 38. Nadal has had tremendous success at the Olympics in the past. In 2008, he won the gold medal in the singles competition in Beijing. Two years later, in the doubles competition, he won the gold medal with Marc Lopez in Rio.

Alcaraz has nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for Rafael Nadal despite the fact that he hasn’t won any championships since the 2022 French Open—mostly because of serious injury problems.

“At the moment, I’m not anxious. When it’s appropriate, I will be. Indeed, he is obviously no stranger to this; he has already played in the Olympics and won gold in both the singles and doubles competitions. I have to listen to him and keep my mouth shut because I’m new and the rookie here,” Alcaraz said.

Alcaraz rested last week following his Wimbledon victory. Conversely, Rafael Nadal was the runner-up in Bastad and advanced to the Bastad doubles semifinal alongside Casper Ruud, but the Spaniard chose to rest ahead of the singles final, giving Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos a walkover.
